Chiarino Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)

Chiarino Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare): this variety is among the earliest of the species. The heart is large, up to 1.5kg, of an intense white that does not require bleaching. The pulp is firm and not fibrous at all. Like all fennels, it suffers with frosts so it is useful to cover them with non-woven fabric when frost is expected. Fennels need well-worked fertilized soils, and constant irrigation. When removed from the plant, the root system should be kept intact, at a controlled temperature (4-6 ° C) so it lasts about twenty days. A gradual sowing is therefore recommended.
