“Beretta Piacentina” Pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima)

“Beretta Piacentina” Pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima): typical variety from Northern Italy, also called Bertina because of the fruit of flat shape and large size, it can reach 8 kg.

The skin colour goes from green to gray, it is thick and leathery: it guarantees long conservation, it easily goes through winter, but it must be picked by leaving a bit of the stem.

The yellow-orange pulp, has high sugar content, it is firm and free of fibers, suitable for gnocchi, soups, and creams.

It doesn't do well in extremely cold weather and has lots of water needs, the size of the crop is one plant per square meter.
